Print Your Own Wrapping Paper (Instead of Buying It)

Print Your Own Wrapping Paper (Instead of Buying It)There's plenty of stuff you can print for free so you don't have to pay for it, and wrapping paper is one of them. Whether you design it yourself or pick up some awesome designs online, it's a pretty easy way to save money and give awesome, custom-wrapped gifts this holiday.

We've shared a resource or two for this before, but there are a lot out there, and we've also found a few tips that can make the process a lot easier. Creating custom wrapping paper doesn't take much more than laying out a grid of photos or icons on a standard 8.5x11 sheet and printing them out on the thinnest paper you have. Your inkjet will work just fine, or you can even use a laser printer if your design works well in black and white. If you don't want to design your own gift wrap, the internet can help you out. Here are some awesome designs we found online:

Whatever you choose, there are a couple of things you need to remember so your custom wrapping looks as good as possible:

  • While standard 8.5x11 (or larger) sheets will work, thinner paper makes for better wrapping.
  • For larger gifts, use a repeating pattern so you can combine sheets. If your printer can handle larger paper, like legal size or even 13x19, use that instead.
  • When using a single image for your custom gift wrap, figure out its optimal placement before your print or it may wrap awkwardly.
